The Landscape Drainage Experts 8 Step Process

    Step 1:  Evaluation and Design

We assess the problem areas and devise a comprehensive plan to effectively collect water.

    step 1 image
    Step 2:  System Selection

We determine the most suitable drainage system based on your specific needs, whether it involves burying downspouts and sump pumps, installing French drains to collect water, or implementing a well and pump-assisted system in areas lacking pitch.

    step 2 image
    Step 3:   Digout

The drainage digout is the hardest and most labor intensive stage of the project. Our French drains are typically 12”-18” deep by 12” wide depending on the amount of pitch we have. We also use a laser level to make sure the system has the proper pitch. The pitch is the most important part of a system because without pitch the system won’t work. When connecting the downspouts we dig 12” deep. In the event of not having gravity and pitch we will use a Well and pump assisted system. This is typically 6 feet deep by 4’x4’ wide, we do this to avoid freezing during the winter.

    step 3 image
    Step 4:  Installation

Our expert team installs the drainage system precisely where needed. This includes installing French drains with 6″ collection basins every 20′, we use a really hard 4” perforated pipe with filter fabric and 3/4” gravel. This is a very important part of the system because this is what collects and absorbs all of the sitting water. If gravity is lacking, we upgrade to a well and pump-assisted system for efficient water removal.

    step 4 image
    Step 5:  Connect Downspouts

Connect Downspouts and sump pump into our system: we connect all of downspouts into our system with 9″ collection basins to filter out leaves and debris. We also connect the sump pump into the system so it has a good place to discharge and this will prevent it from ever freezing or flooding the yard.

    step 5 image
Step 6:  Grading for Effective Drainage

Proper yard grading toward the French drain is crucial for directing water flow and maximizing system efficiency. We ensure everything is graded away from the house to prevent water buildup.

    step 6 image
    Step 7: Directing Water Flow

We carefully direct the water flow, either channeling it to a storm sewer or directing it to a low point in the yard with a pop-up emitter, ultimately leading it off the property. In cases where gravity is absent, we utilize a well and pump-assisted system.

    step 7 image
    Step 8: Installing New Sod

Fresh sod plays a crucial role in facilitating water movement within the drainage system without creating a mess. Moreover, it enhances the overall appearance of your yard, creating an inviting space for making cherished family memories!

How Ware Landscaping Can Help With Yard Grading?

Grading plays a pivotal role in both drainage projects and the overall health of your yard. At Ware Landscaping, we meticulously address grading concerns in every project we undertake. In the context of a French drain project, proper grading is particularly crucial. Without grading the yard away from your house and into the French drain, the drainage system would be ineffective. Ensuring proper grading is accounted for and addressed in every drainage job is essential for the system to operate at its designed capacity.

“I contacted Mike at Ware Landscaping for help with fixing my flooded backyard and garage. Mike gave me an honest assessment of my situation and recommended the right system to fix my problems (a lot of issues). Ware Landscaping installed drainage, underground downspouts, underground sump pump lines, driveway drains and surface drains in the yard to fix all my problems. The team was very professional and always asked for my approval on work being done before it was completed. They did a great job and we are very pleased!”

    Frequently Asked Questions

Even if you have a drainage system in place on your property, Ware Landscaping can still solve your water flow problems. Your lawn may be flooding because an underground pipe has broken or because the environmental conditions have changed in a way the system was not designed to handle.

Many companies that install drainage systems fail to account for fluctuating water table levels or changing water conditions. Due to the installation area or simple regional changes, your current system might need to be repaired or replaced. There may also be a fixable problem causing new drainage issues. A drainage specialist can assess the situation.

Many people attempt to save money by taking a do-it-yourself approach to drainage issues. Unfortunately, most individuals lack the skills and experience necessary to accurately identify the source of their drainage issues.

On your own, it’s tough to determine the best, most cost-effective solution; or correctly install a large, complex drainage system. Drainage problems can lead to immense costs down the road, and attempting to fix the issue yourself may not be entirely practical.

Ultimately, the DIY approach can wind up costing you a lot more money than hiring an experienced team of drainage solutions professionals. At Ware Landscaping, we offer a free initial consultation for your drainage problems so that you can understand the issue before you commit to paying for our services.

Great question, we design the systems to have release points if at any point a storm sewer backs up it will over flow in the next lowest 6” catch basin which is always far from the house. This is an import part of the design.

Our systems always help the neighbors because it usually ends up collecting part of their water too.

We offer a 1 year warranty on all of the sod, if for any reason any pieces don’t make it we will replace them no questions asked.

We are usually the more expensive option but it’s worth every bit. Our system are the most effective and hands down the best option.

Abosolutly not, it’s actually the complete opposite! After the system is installed you won’t even be able to tell it was ever installed and all of your water problems will be totally solved.

you can walk on the yard right away and the crews that cut the yard can cut the grass right away.

Yes definitely! You will see the leaves getting caught before getting into the system and this will prevent the system from getting clogged.

It actually helps the neighbors and drys out part of their yard too.
